Our speaker, David Cantara, is the Founder and Co-Chair of Patriot Rovers, providers of service dogs for PTSD Veterans. Most especially dedicated to the elimination of post service suicides.
The Patriot Rovers is a healing mission that provides professionally trained and certified Psychiatric Service Dogs, instruction, therapeutic group camaraderie and support services to Veterans suffering Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and traumatic Brain injury as a result of their service to our country.
David's presentation was moving and emotionally charged as he reviewed the histories of the PTSD vets with dogs, and the history of those vets after whom the dogs are named. The tasks and abilities of the Golden Retrievers specific to this service left many of us in awe.
Three PTSD veterans accompanied by their Patriot Rover dogs were also in attendance and adding weight to the importance of programs such as this.
Mrs. Betty MIller, Chairperson of coupon donations to active duty Enlisted personnel, reported that our Chapter donated over $12,000 last year. An impressive record for a Chapter our size,
Betty's husband, Glen Miller, is our Chaplain, who never fails to bring us back to center in these hectic and worrying times, within his benedictions.
We are very fortunate to have this couple active in our Chapter activities.
We were pleased to have our newest Honorary Member Jessie Fleming and wife Emily in attendance.
