Our own Captain Wesley spoke about her multiple civilian tours on the NGO Hospital Ship Mercy in company with her husband Mike Cheston, Col. USMC, Ret. Working alongside the multi-national all volunteer staff while berthed in Africa, her tales and photos of patients who were predominantly children moved us to both tears and laughter. Truly miraculous stories.
The Mercy Ships are not associated with the Navy or any other part of the government. It is a faith-based non-profit organization that offers life-saving surgery to those who have little or no access to medical care. https://www.mercyships.org/
Renewing our member 7 minute career briefs, LT. Catherine Williams delighted us with her US Navy Medical career and seamlessly dovetailed with our main speaker who had done active Reserve duty in Williams US hospital while she herself was deployed on a hospital ship supporting Dessert Storm.
